Habituate of music and art can heal the mind and produce creative generations. As a method of relaxing, music can come out even in an irregular gathering of people. Though Moratuwa is famous for music and art (a city which has produced lot of known musicians to the country in the past), the area lacks a proper place for recreational facilities connected with music related activities.
The intention of this scheme is to provide a node of music and art which can connect even the people who are passing through. The surrounding will attract the people by related activities and they are automatically invited to the building.
In this scheme, there are spaces which the people could enjoy when they are walking in the building yet with a clue what’s happening on the other floors when they are in the building. There are 3 levels in this design, which one level has gone below ground level, using the existing level difference of the site. All three levels are connected to one another with double height voids.
The design is with mainly two materials, which are concrete and timber. Concrete is basically to give the idea that Moratuwa has a solid node where Music and arts related activities happening and Timber, which is another identity of Moratuwa has used as a decorative element in this scheme.
This scheme would provide a solid node of music and arts to the Moratuwa city, which would help future generations to engage with music industry of Moratuwa to re-gain its lost identity in related to music.
