Project Location : Attidiya, Sri Lanka

The project is focusing on a booming social issue (Future Projection) in the society addressing one of the most important age group which society always try to neglect them as “EXPIRED GROUP”.

Establishment of conventional elder’s homes provide basic needs for the elders but still their dignity, capability, self-satisfaction and confidence to be a part of the society is in somewhere where they cannot recognize.  Hence, it is essential to uplift the physiological and psychological well-being of elders so that they can recognize their capacities to function in a meaningful way and contribute to the society as an independent person (Reduce dependents) which lead to have social sustainability.

Apart from that the program of the project is formed to have a national level impact to this social issue. The program first applies to the western province as the preliminary establishment then to other provinces with the connection of the elder’s committees. Therefore, the outcome of the project will have a major impact on society.

The building system is designed as a modular system which enables to prefabricate the elements and install reducing the time and cost. Strategy for the modular unit as well as other elements is to increase percentage of the reusable, recyclable and biodegradable material usage. Bamboo wastewater system enables to recycle the grey water and use them for farming which will reduce the waste disposal to the natural context while reducing the water usage.
