Ceylon Tea Lounge

Ceylon Tea Lounge

  • Architect: Kumudu Munasinghe
  • Location: Colombo 03, Sri Lanka
  • Project Year: 2017
  • Author: Ravijani Gunathilaka

Tea is authentic to Sri Lanka, yet experience in a proper tea lounge was lack in the City. This is a design and built project that was carried out by the F&S to introduce Sri Lankan tea lounge tradition in the city. The work done by the architect include total interior of the lounge with the services. The spaces were designed with the concept of the essence of ‘Tea Leaf’ inside the lounge.

Interior was done with the adaptation of Tea culture in Sri Lanka to mark its identity in International market. The ambiences inside the lounge are decorated with plush lounge chairs and warm lighting, giving the place a 5 star hotel lobby expression.

There are shelves full of colorful Euro Asian tea boxes that are guaranteed to draw the foreign eye. They’re still very new to the setting where the place is totally enhancing the experience of sedate Sri Lankan tea.

Usage of natural colours of tea for the furniture diffusely have brought forward the impression of tea shop where mostly the used colours are with a brownish touch. The warm lights used at the tea lounge creates an environment that exactly suits for a café. The customize designs of Tea leaves done by the architect are places at the entrance of the lounge and few other places.
